Taking some time off (kinda)

Today is the 4th of July. If you’re in America, it’s probably hard to feel celebratory about this country right now. Between the extremism and the polarization, and the constant reminders of how unevenly opportunity is distributed, “patriotic” doesn’t always feel like the right word for the moment we’re in.

I still believe in staying committed to the ideals I want this country to live up to. Fairness, freedom, opportunity, dignity, and accountability. I believe that systems can be changed by people who refuse to stop pushing.

I’m going to guess a lot of you, within this community of thousands of people working to make capital more accessible and equitable, believe the same.
