July 2020 Update

Hello!

Whether you are a new subscriber or have been here since the start, thank you so, so much for your engagement and support. This newsletter comes with some announcements, so I encourage you to read through if you have the time.

Scroobious was founded seven months ago and just two months in we entered the age of COVID-19 quarantine and restrictions. As with most companies, particularly start-ups, our timelines were interrupted and operational pivots were necessary. One of these changes includes Ann's departure from the company. We wish Ann nothing but the best in her future endeavors. Scroobious is still full steam ahead with an incredible community of underrepresented founders, early-stage investors, and partners and I am more passionate than ever about our mission to connect you all in a meaningful way.

Never has the need for Scroobious been greater.

  • Meeting in person carries a health risk; both investors and founders have an acute need to make the process 100% virtual or to make meetings as effective and efficient as possible. Scroobious directly addresses this need.
  • Undernetworked and underrepresented founders have lost the ability to make new connections at events. I have had the honor of working with many diverse founders over the past few months; they are an undervalued asset class and tools like Scroobious must persist to broaden investors' sourcing funnels.

We have begun limited access to our prototype and will slowly continue to add those who have signed up for our waiting list. Read below for how to sign up if you haven't already and for ways you can help if you're so inclined.

Thank you for reading this. Thank you for supporting Scroobious. I appreciate each and every one of you and I am SO excited to share our continued progress and fulfill our mission to shrink the funding gap.

 Allison Byers, Founder & CEO

In Your Words

Each newsletter features the perspective of one of our members. Most are currently raising and I encourage you to reach out to them.

Each newsletter will feature the perspective of one of our members. Today I'd like to introduce you to Anna Western. She is the Founder & CEO of Prism, a tool that I have come to rely on daily as a way to organize the internet. Being a mom and starting a company are diametrically opposed in many ways. Anna has faced her share of challenges but she continues to push forward and stick to her vision, which I both relate to and greatly respect.

Check out my Prism profile! I am always adding new sites with the chrome extension and love that I can share my resources with others. If you have website suggestions to add to any of my boards definitely send them my way!
